And it is one of those books where the characters have a lot to talk about, but nothing else but talk really happened because they characters never shut up. This book is predominantly dialogue between characters. It’s one of those that has the perfect balance of being written intelligently and well, but not so much so that it makes it a chore to read. It’s also a great insight into how far families will go for one another and how the others deal with those choices. They’ve got a complicated family and therefore complicated relationships with each other, and it’s fun to explore them and how they react to what is happening to them now. I liked the relationships between all the siblings. It made it all the more easy to understand, and it was cool to see those stories referenced in this one. I also loved that the characters referenced other time travel stories and how they worked into their own reality. The author has clearly worked out her kinks and while it’s incredibly frustrating as the whole thing is revealed to the reader one detail at a time, you’ll be pleased with the end result. Let’s break this down a bit more, shall we? The time travel is well thought out, the characters are interesting, and the whole thing has you scratching your head or yelling at each character in turn until you’ve turned the final pages.

There’s always a bit of hesitation on my part when it comes to time travel books, because they always seem to be really good or really bad and there isn’t a lot in between.
